A graduate and doctoral student of the Academy of Music in Katowice, received a degree in composition and music theory as well as symphonic and opera conducting under the supervision of Szymon Bywalec, Ph. D. Tomasiewicz took part in Conducting Masterclass of M. Dittrich in Budapest and was awarded the second prize in the competition. He also attended several courses conducted by G. Chmura, J. Kaspszyk and L. Livingstone, among others. He is associated with the Archetti Chamber Orchestra, with which he collaborated as a violinist – and from 2014 as its conductor. Since 2015, he has been teaching as a conductor of school youth orchestras, successfully participating in various competitions and festivals. He is the conductor of the Polish Youth Symphony Orchestra in Bytom and the Karol Szymanowski Youth Symphony Orchestra in Katowice.
So far, he has assisted such conductors as: M. Jurowski, G. Chmura, J. Kaspszyk, A. Liebreich, M.J. Błaszczyk, M. Klauza, T. Kozłowski, B. Akiki and S. Bywalec. He cooperated as an assistant conductor with the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra in Katowice, as well as with the Lódź Grand Theatre, where after winning the competition for the position of an assistant conductor, he prepared the premiere of Stanisław Moniuszko’s The Haunted Manor, directed by Krystyna Janda. He has performed with the Beethoven Academy Orchestra, Podlasie Opera and Philharmonic, Kalisz Philharmonic Orchestra, Silesian Philharmonic, Silesian Chamber Orchestra, OMN – New Music Orchestra and with Philharmonic Orchestras in Kielce and Zielona Góra. Since 2016, he has been cooperating with the Silesian Opera in Bytom, where he managed the ballet premiere of Scheherezade/Medea by N. Rimsky-Korsakov and S. Barber, conducted Tosca by G. Puccini and P. Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker. In 2016-2017, Tomasiewicz worked as an assistant conductor with the Polish Sinfonia Iuventus Orchestra.
He was the only conductor to be a two-time beneficiary of the Institute of Music and Dance – Conductor-in-residence programme (with Silesian Philharmonic and Podlasie Opera and Philharmonic).
